On paper the Norco Fluid 1 has all the right stuff to mix it up in our neck of the woods. Adjustable travel from 116-143mm, a Fox Float 32 fork with a 15mm axle, Fox RP2 air shock out back, Elixir brakes, Shimano SLX shifters / front derailleur, an XT rear derailleur and Race Face Deuce XC cranks.

Norco Fluid 1 smooth sexy lines.

Santa Cruz Bicycles [SCB] is not one of the large mountain bike manufacturers and the way they are going to market is a positive of being smaller. SCB sells their bikes in both preselected complete packages and factory semi-customizable options (select from a variety of Forks and Build Kits). These choices combined with the frame only option gives the buyer limitless options in their needs and desires and budgets. The Santa Cruz Nomad redefined the long travel pedalable mountain bike market when it was releases in 2007. Now in its second...

Last year at Interbike in Vegas there really wasn’t too much to catch the eye. Small bits and pieces here and there but nothing really show stopping. Not the first time it has been a slower show, but in these times that is when I do try to look deeper into the corners of the show floor and see what is lurking.

Last September I came across a new bike rack company call Kuat (Koo ET) that was showing off a very nice looking hitch rack. The NV...

At the start of this summer we starting looking for a new women's product reviewer for WMB.  After great discussion and countless hours deciding wie would like to introduce our newest contributor to WMB, Kristen Johnston.  No stranger to bikes, Kristen likes to hammer hers around and most thursdays you can find her leading the charge at the loonie races and more times than not she wins the women's category.  The rest of the week you can find her at the medical clinic working at her family medicine practice or hanging out with her husband...

With a winter that wouldn't quit, our spring has been slow to come here in Whistle land.  Temperatures haven't cracked 20c for any length of time and the rain hasn't been too far away either. But, the trails have been in pretty darn good shape and the slightly foul weather hasn't stopped us from getting out on rides.

Needless to say some rides this spring have been wet.  Most have been cold and even snowy.  But through most of them I have been wearing a Gore Bike Wear Fusion Jacket.  Gore Bike Wear is a division of W.L. Gore &...

With a list of Canadian riders that reads like an all-star team, I couldn't resist the chance to watch Brighter.  Featuring Garett Buehler, Mike Kinrade, Mitch Chubey, Kurt Sorge, James Doerfling, Graham Agassiz, Casey Groves & Mike Hopkins the list is strong.

The cinematography is similar to a Collective movie with great settings and more of an artistic feel, instead of a pump up banger film like a NWD film.  Some parts of the film had riding that I think was understated and might not have shown how crazy...

As the snow slowly recedes and the trails are coming out of hibernation thoughts are turning to getting out for rides while the weather is still on the cold side.   When daytime highs are still in the single digit range having a jacket is mandatory.

Race Face has a new jacket called the Aquanot.  The Aquanot is made from 2.5 ply laminate; the Storm Lite fabric is rated at 5,000mm waterproof & 5,000g/m2 breathability.  For reference a high-end skiing jacket runs around 20,000mm.  As with all high-end jackets all the seams have...

For what seems like years I have been hearing about why I should swap out my bars for a wider set on the downhill rig.  Not that I was running narrow ones before, 710mm is still a respectable width in my mind, but seems to be more inline with all mountain bar widths now.

I put in a call to see what was the new offerings from Gravity and they sent up one of their new 777 bars.  Just as the name implies, the 777 are in fact 777mm wide.  Featuring a 10-degree sweep and a 4-degree rise and it is solely designed for 31.8mm...

One of the perks of living in Whistler is that sooner or later most people that work for bike companies come to ride here, and sooner or later they convince head office to launch their new products in my backyard.  Over the last few years it has started to intensify around Crankworx since there is tons of  bike crazy people milling about when else would be better to show off the new goods?

Last year during I got a call from the Scott USA marketing department saying that their was a new Scott Voltage FR10 was sitting in Whistler...

Hailing from one building over from the Whistlermountainbike.com offices in Whistler, Chromag is a bike part manufacturer firmly entrenched in the riding life of Whistler.  if you take a look around at one of our loonie races or in the bike park lineup you will countless chromag frames, bars, saddles and stems littered across the bikes.

Chromag was started by Ian Ritz after he sold his interest in Evolution bike shop and found himself with great ideas and nothing else filling his days up.  He started off by making chromoly frames...
