Contour HD Headcam.

As fate would have it I got my hands on a Contour HD camera just before the season wrapped up in the fall.
I had been waiting to get a proper self-contained head cam for some time. Now I had a bullet cam that attached to my video camera, but with all the cables, battery packs and fusing around, I was ready for something simpler.
Enter the Contour HD.
Now what VHoldR has managed to do with the Contour HD is nothing short of amazing. Batteries, micro SD card and camera all rolled into one small package, self-contained all within something smaller than an iPhone, albeit wider, obviously.
With a simple on and off switch at the back of the unit, and large easy-to-use-with-gloves-on activation switch topside, the ergonomics of the camera have been well thought out. Weight for the unit is 4.3 ounces, which was only slightly noticeable when attached to my goggles.
The ContourHD can be adjusted via their software to change the contrast, exposure, metering & the microphone level. I found it was necessary to setup the camera for best results for the type of riding that you are going to be doing. Ie if you are in the trees you will want to change the exposure so that the video doesn't look so dark. Etc.
All video is recorded to a MicroSD card that is secured away at the back of the device beside the battery. It will take up to a 16gig card, but I found that an 8 gig is the way to go since it is about equal to the length of the battery charge.
The one thing that I noticed when watching my video playback was that the microphone picked up a lot of noise from the peripherals. So if you are going to use the goggle mount ensure that you have it super snug to your helmet and that the safety clip is tucked away, either wise you are going to record the sound of it hitting against the body.
Opinion: Lightweight all in one camera that shoots HD? Get your hands off mine and go get your own.
Plus:
Light, HD (720) video, extremely easy to use..
Minus:
Software based adjustments.
